Secured Magazine
As consulting editor for McMurry, Tam helped develop the editorial design and strategy of IBM Corp.’s thrice-yearly magazine on Internet security for chief information officers. She generated story ideas, assigned work to freelance writers, served as primary editor and wrote articles. Her contributions helped Secured win a Pearl Award from the Custom Publishing Council in 2007.
iQ Magazine
Under contract with Sunset Publishing, she served as primary editor for feature articles and departments in Cisco Systems’ quarterly magazine on technology for small- and medium-sized businesses.
BizTech Magazine
As full-time managing editor at The Magazine Group, she generated story ideas, assigned work to freelance writers and served as primary editor for CDW’s quarterly magazine on technology for small- and medium-sized businesses.
Electronic Business
As executive editor of Electronic Business, a monthly magazine for senior management at electronics companies, Tam helped create and implement a new editorial focus and style for the publication. She oversaw editorial and production processes, including managing a staff of seven writers and editors as well as freelancers. She initiated coverage of national technology policy and legislative issues by establishing the Washington bureau. She also wrote features, news analysis, and editorial commentaries, for which she won a Jesse H. Neal Award in 1999.
